D: From Sacred Rocks to Cape Hedo
Part1:After a short break at Cape Hedo, the northernmost point of Okinawa Island, we drive to a small village at the foot of Mount Asumui. Walking along the sacred pine-lined path, you can sense the atmosphere of old rituals and the traces of traditional village life. With the rocky peak of Asumui rising before us, we pause to hear the creation myth of Okinawa and the stories connected to this sacred landscape.

Part2:We drive to Cape Hedo for lunch and take a walk along the coastline, enjoying the wide-open view of the ocean. At the Okinawa Reversion Monument, we pause to reflect on the history and struggles of the Okinawan people after World War II. The coastal hills here are covered with grasslands, offering a very different vegetation from the forested areas of Yanbaru. As we walk, you can enjoy sweeping views of the sea with Yoronjima, Iheya, Izena, and Ie Island on the horizon, while the forested slopes of Mount Asumui rise behind you. This area also offers a good chance of spotting the Okinawa Rail, and the contrast between grassland and forest makes the landscape especially enjoyable.
